Hi, I’m Sandra. Floral designer, flower grower in training, mom of three, and happiest when I’m creating something with my hands.

My background is actually in interior architecture and design, but flowers found me during a very different season of life. After having my third baby in 2019, I struggled with PPD, and not long after, my maternity leave turned into becoming a full time stay at home mom when COVID changed pretty much everything.

I missed creating, so I started making floral arrangements for family and friends. There was something about working with flowers that clicked with my brain. Unlike a months long interior design project with endless decisions and moving pieces, I could sit down with a pile of flowers, focus completely on what was in front of me, and create something beautiful with a finish line. My brain felt like it exhaled.

That feeling has never really gone away. Whether I’m designing in my studio or outside trying to figure out how to grow the flowers myself, with plenty of mistakes along the way, working with flowers has become a form of therapy for me.

The Flower Girl actually began with a completely different plan: high end faux floral rentals. I loved the idea of creating beautiful designs that could be reused, reducing both waste and cost. At the time, I wasn’t even sure I could design with fresh flowers. But the more opportunities I had to work with them, the more confident I became, and the more I fell in love with it. Today, fresh flowers are all I work with, and whenever possible, I love incorporating flowers grown locally, including some from my own property.

My design background still plays a huge role in what I do. It helps me see the whole picture, trust my instincts, and take the ideas floating around in someone else’s head and turn them into something real.

More than anything, I want the people I work with to feel comfortable. You don’t have to know all the flower names or have every detail figured out. I want you to feel like I understand what you’re trying to create, trust that I have it under control, and ultimately love what we make together.

I don’t think there’s one floral designer who is right for everyone, and I actually think that’s a good thing. Design is personal. Sometimes you find someone who just gets you. If we’re that fit for each other, I’d love to create something beautiful together.
